Bucket List: Thing to Do in Austin Before Summer Ends

Think you’re going to miss the fun in summer? It’s not too late to have fun! We prepared a list for you to enjoy the last few weeks or days before summer ends. When it comes to live music, green spaces, delicious meals, and a vibrant nightlife, Austin surely tops the lists amongst other cities in Texas!

 

You might be overwhelmed with the countless things you can do here whether you are a tourist or someone who lives in the beautiful Bat City. We made things easier for you so we made a simple yet cool guide to fun things to do before summer ends in Austin!

 

1. Cool Off in Hamilton Pool Preserve

A beautiful and historic swimming hole within the Dripping Springs area. Water from the Hamilton Creek flows down to the limestone outcroppings which plunges a beautiful and dramatic 50-feet waterfall. Aside from swimming, you can also hike and have a picnic in the area. Make sure you give them a call at 512-264-2740 for reservations.

 

2. Capture a Moment at ATX’s Murals

Snap an Instagrammable photo in front of the iconic Greetings from Austin in South Austin. The famous I love you so much mural is found on the wall of Jo’s Coffee on South Congress Avenue. Found in Downtown Austin in 6th screen is another mural of Austin, Texas. A black and white mural, Love From Austin, can also be found at Magnolia Cafe as SoCo.

 

3. Swim, Bike, and Hike at Barton Springs

Take a dip in Barton Springs in Zilker Park, Austin’s famous spring-fed swimming holes found in the heart of the city. The temperatures hovers at 68° to 74°F all year round. The area also has a grassy space for picnicking and some food trucks can be found in the area. You can also rent a bike to traverse around or hike at the 10 mile Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail.

4. Watch a Flick at The Paramount

See some iconic films at the Paramount’s Classic Film Series. They have an ongoing show of classic films such as Dr. No, True Grit, Notting Hills, Say Anything, Purple Rain and more! Feast your eyes on well preserved film prints and dazzling digital restorations. Whether you are into comedy, thriller, actions, family adventures, romance, and more, escape the heat for a quick movie treat before summer ends in Austin! Admission starts at $12. Shows are until August 31st!

5. Sunset and Picnic at Mount Bonnell

Enjoy the last few weeks and days of summer with your friends, family, or your significant other at Mount Bonnell. A short hike that will reward you a panoramic view of the Austin area which includes Lake Austin!

6. Take a Cooling Treat at Lick Honest Ice Cream

What’s summer without ice cream? Take a cool artisan ice cream treat at Lick Honest Ice Cream. They have homemade local Texas ice cream and waffle cones you’ll definitely love! Try out their seasonal ice cream flavors such as Melon Margarita and Milk and Cookies.
