There is also a “city within a city” in the area. Sun City Texas is a 5,000+ acre age-restricted community for people that are in the age of 50+ years old. The residents of Sun City now is now more than a third of Georgetown’s total population. Despite that, Georgetown remains to be an area great for growing families.

The East area of Georgetown is highly agricultural. Cotton is the primary crop. While the area in the West features limestone and hilly terrain.

Here’s some History about Georgetown. George Washington Glasscock donated land for the city, therefore, it was named after him. The Southwestern opening in 1840 was major for the area. The city was then named as the county seat of the newly formed Williamson County in 1848.

There is also easy access to Lake Georgetown and the trail system that surrounds the lake.

With 40 parks and around 16 miles of hike and bike in the area, the city takes pride in the number of parks, hike, and bike trails that it provides.

The city used to be known as a quiet and sleepy city, but it then started to boom with beautiful amenities, tourist destinations, delicious food, and rich culture! The beauty of nature and the environment is what the city showcases.

Take a stroll at the Georgetown Square, or explore the underground at Inner Space Cavern which is a major tourist destination that features karst formations. Escape the heat by going for a dive at the Blue Hole, don’t forget to give them a call and ask for reservations. You can rent a standup paddleboard at Lake Georgetown or just soak up the sun and have a picnic with your loved ones. Georgetown Parks and Recreation currently maintains over 40 parks and over 16 miles of hike and bike trail.

If your stomach starts growling, head over the Monument Cafe and enjoy a nice slice of pie. 600 Degrees serves one of the best gourmet pizza in the area. If you’re looking for some juicy and tasty BBQ, head over Black Box Barbeque; lines do get long here too. Have some Mexican food at El Charrito and El Monumento. You’ll never be hungry if you are in the area!

Arts and culture are one of the things that are well-known in the area as well. Take a tour with your family, friends, or significant other and know about various histories and cultures in the area in the Grace Heritage Center, Georgetown Art Center, Williamson Museum, and the Palace Theater.

Let’s not forget about the great tasting ice cold beer at Rentsch Brewery, a cup of joe at Cianfrani, or watch the sunset while sipping your margarita at Dos Salas.
