About Round Rock
The City first started in the 1800s as the small settlement of Brushy which is found near the ford of Brushy Creek. The settlement was renamed Round Rock in 1854 after a large rock that sits on top of the creek.
The commercial center in the area was moved east from its original location due to the coming of the railroad in 1876. The original site is now known as Old Town. Buildings in the area of Old Town have been restored into small shops which draws in visitors, especially history enthusiasts that will definitely love the area.
Today, Round Rock is home to major employers such as Emerson, TECO-Westinghouse, Hospira, and Dell. The City is becoming a major center for economic growth in Central Texas with industry clusters in Clean Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, Life Sciences, and Computer or Software Development,
